Hugo Ribeiro da Silva

As a result of that reflection, I handed in my resignation after 10 years in a senior management position.

How has your connection to Católica Porto Business School influenced your views on education and leadership development?

My experience as an alumnus of the International MBA showed me that the knowledge and tools acquired significantly boosted both my professional and personal growth. This experience strengthened my belief in the effectiveness of the methods taught and in the importance of fostering a culture of continuous learning.

What has been the most defining professional experience or decision in your career, and why?

The most defining decision in my career came in 2006, when I turned 40. During a period of deep reflection, I realised I lacked professional motivation. As a result, I resigned after 10 years in a senior management role. Through a coaching programme with Anthony Robbins’ team, I gained clarity about the path ahead, which has since accelerated my professional growth.

What do you think is the biggest challenge companies face today, and how can business schools help overcome it?

The biggest challenge companies face today is attracting and developing talent that aligns ambition with strategic objectives.

If you could give one piece of advice to future managers and business leaders, what would it be?

Never stop learning and acquiring new tools through business schools such as Católica Business School. The world’s leading companies will always need qualified, experienced and ambitious leaders (“Working students have much to offer”).

This is the second feature in the Inside the SAB series – a space for sharing ideas and experiences that brings Católica Porto Business School closer to society and its leaders.
