"You should value continuous lifelong learning, particularly in business schools"

How has your connection with Católica Porto Business School influenced your view on education and the training of leaders?

Católica Porto Business School, as a leading institution in management education, recognised for its academic excellence and strong connection to the business world, has a very positive impact on the development of leaders, preparing them to face complex challenges with a global and innovative perspective.

What has been the most significant professional experience or decision in your career, and why?

The decision to take on the role of Chairman of the Executive Board of AEP in 2019, driven by the important and noble mission of this institution, which will celebrate its 176th anniversary this year, focused on defending the interests of companies, the main creators of wealth and employment.

What do you consider to be the greatest challenge currently facing companies, and how can business schools help to overcome it?

The high level of uncertainty in the context in which business activity takes place, which tends to limit planning and execution capacity. Business schools help prepare leaders to respond to unpredictability and to shape the future of business in an innovative, sometimes disruptive, and sustainable way.

If you could give one piece of advice to future managers and business leaders, what would it be?

That they value continuous lifelong learning, particularly in business schools, in order to better face scenarios of uncertainty and unpredictability, which are increasingly becoming a constant. Católica Porto Business School stands out as a strong example in the development of leadership, strategic thinking and decision-making skills.

This is another testimonial from the Inside the SAB series, a space for sharing ideas and experiences that brings Católica Porto Business School closer to society and its leaders.
