Católica Porto Business School celebrates its alumni in a memorable evening at the Palácio da Bolsa

Monday, May 12, 2025 - 15:50

The Arabian Room of the Palácio da Bolsa in Porto was the setting chosen to celebrate the alumni of Católica Porto Business School in a special event that brought together different generations. Under the motto "From the Past to the Future", the evening of 9 May was marked by reunions, tributes and reflections on the present challenges and future opportunities. The date for next year's Alumni Gala has already been set: 22 May 2026.

From different parts of the country and abroad, former students from Católica Porto Business School's bachelor's, master's and executive education programmes came together for a moment of celebration and sharing. The event paid tribute to the classes marking 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years since graduating, strengthening the bonds between those who have built, and continue to build, the school's history.

The session was opened by the school's dean, João Pinto, who emphasised the central role of the alumni in affirming Católica Porto Business School in the business world.

One of the highlights of the evening was the intervention by Carlos Costa, keynote speaker, chair of the Societal Advisory Board of Católica Porto Business School, honorary vice-president of the European Investment Bank, and governor of the Banco of Portugal between 2010 and 2020, who also reflected on the role of alumni. For Carlos Costa, more than just sharing learning from professional life, "business school alumni associations are essential for involving schools in the unresolved issues of the present and the future. In essence, to call on and involve the school and current students in the organisational challenges of the future".

After this moment, the students from the various years honoured were called to the stage. Abílio Silva, representing the alumni celebrating 30 years, summed it up in his speech: "We all who are here owe a great deal to the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. It was this university that shaped us, that gave us our identity, that gave us life principles and tools."
The evening was also attended by members of the Societal Advisory Board, a group of business and civil society leaders who support the Board of the Católica Porto Business School in its strategic decisions, strengthening its connection to society.
This symbolic gathering not only celebrated the past, but also looked to the future: the next edition of the event has already been scheduled for 22 May 2026. It was a fruitful evening of reunions, new connections and a renewal of the community spirit that marks Católica Porto Business School.
