Late yesterday afternoon at Católica Porto Business School was marked by a conversation about fashion, hypermodernism, hyperconsumption, authenticity, the society of seduction and the aestheticisation of the world, between Gilles Lipovetsky, one of today's greatest philosophers and thinkers, and the director of the Executive Course in Luxury Management, Mónica Seabra-Mendes.
The discussion centred on the question of what luxury will be like in the future. Lipovetsky emphasised that luxury is driven by economic dynamism and will continue to grow, although it is difficult to predict the speed of this growth. One of the examples he used was that, although he doesn't believe that women will always buy Gucci bags, some brands, such as Chanel and Hermès, continue to expand without being affected by the crisis.
The conference was opened by the executive director of Executive Education at Católica Porto Business School, Carlos Vieira. Read more about Gilles Lipovetsky's opinion in this Público article.
