Raquel Campos Franco holds a PhD in Management by the University of Bath, United Kingdom, with a thesis on Capacity‑building of social non‑profit organizations. She also holds a MSc in Responsibility and Business Practice from the same University and an MBA (Marketing Specialization) from the Católica Lisbon.
Raquel is the elected Director of the Management Department for the period 2021‑2024. She was the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Degrees of the Católica Porto Business School (CPBS) and President of the Pedagogic Council, from October 2013 until May 2020.
Raquel produced several studies in the field of non‑profit organisations. She coordinated the team that produced the study Trends and Challenges for Portuguese Foundations for the Portuguese Foundation Centre; coordinated the team that produced the study The Social Impact of Portuguese Foundations (2021) for the Portuguese Foundations Centre; coordinated the team that authored the Survey on the NGO Sector in Portugal (2015), for the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation within the framework of the Active Citizenship Programme (financed by EEA grants); produced the Portuguese chapter of the Eufori project – European Foundations for Research and Innovation for the DG Research and Innovation of the European Commission (2015); participated in the Strategies for Impact Project do Center for Social Investment of the University of Heidelberg led by Helmut Anheier, having written two case studies published in ECCH (2010). Raquel coordinated the Portuguese “Local Associate Team” of the International Comparative Nonprofit Sector Project, led by Lester Salamon of the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA, that produced the first data on the non‑profit sector in Portugal.
She presently coordinates the team developing a study for the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. She is a collaborator in the Springer Encyclopedia “Civil Society”, edited by Helmut Anheier (2010/2020).
Presently she teaches the course on Strategy (3rd year Undergraduate Degree on Management, CPBS), the course on Christianity, Cultures and Organisations (2nd year Undergraduate Degrees on Economics and on Management), and integrates the supervisors in the Final Project course (Undergraduate Degree on Economics and on Management, CPBS).
