The transition from on-site work to remote working has brought clear benefits, but also unexpected challenges. In an opinion article published in O Jornal Económico, Eva Oliveira, a professor at Católica Porto Business School, reflects on the tensions between flexibility and well-being, drawing on a concrete case that mirrors the experience of many professionals.
"This is despite the fact that she now sets her own schedule and has eliminated the commuting that once exhausted her. The expected balance between her professional and personal life did not materialise (...) The flexibility that should benefit us ultimately results in an endless negotiation to define the boundaries between work and personal life. Without clear boundaries, flexibility becomes a burden."
