Arménio Rego, from Católica Porto Business School, among the top 2% of scientists in the world in 2025

Arménio Rego, researcher at CEGE - Research Center in Management and Economics of Católica Porto Business School, is listed among the world’s most cited scientists in 2024, according to the 2025 edition of the “World’s Top 2% Scientists” ranking, compiled by Stanford University (USA), in collaboration with the publishing group Elsevier.

This distinction acknowledges the international scientific impact of the research conducted by Arménio Rego in the field of Business and Management, reinforcing Católica Porto Business School’s position as a benchmark in this area. The announcement comes at a time when the School has also revealed that it will be launching a new doctoral programme in the next academic year.

In the field of Economics and Management, two other researchers from CUBE – Católica Lisbon Research Unit in Business and Economics – were also recognised: Filipe Santos and Ilídio Barreto, consolidating UCP’s outstanding presence in this scientific area.

The number of researchers from Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) recognised in the global ranking of the most cited scientists has grown by 40% compared to the previous year. There are now 14 researchers featured in the 2025 edition of the “World’s Top 2% Scientists”, which confirms the relevance and international impact of the research carried out by the institution across various fields of knowledge.

“This achievement is an international recognition of the quality and relevance of the research conducted at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. It is a source of pride to see our researchers at the forefront of global science, contributing to innovation and the advancement of their fields of expertise,” emphasises Isabel Capeloa Gil, Rector of UCP.
