Abstract
Since September 2021, Abertay University has delivered the MySuccess Modules (Millard, Blackwell Young & Hogan, 2023) a suite of credit-bearing transition microcredentials designed to support students entering higher education. This seminar presents four years of implementation data (2021–2025), exploring what the programme has achieved and what it might offer to other institutions exploring similar opportunities.
All students complete ABE101 Being Successful at Abertay, which includes the Abertay Discovery Tool (Hogan & Millard, 2024) a diagnostic instrument offering individualised insights into academic and social strengths before selecting three further modules from nine options spanning academic literacies, digital skills, wellbeing, employability, and social integration.
The seminar will focus particularly on impact across three levels. For students, we examine choice patterns, pass rates, and progression outcomes over four cohorts. For departments, we consider how cross-institutional collaboration spanning professional services, academic staff, the Students' Association, and senior student Module Assistants has reshaped how transition support is conceived and delivered. We also reflect on the curriculum development framework surrounding the MySuccess Modules. We conclude by reflecting on the MySuccess Modules in enabling institutional change.
