Ivan Rajesh Shah, a recent graduate of the Economics Degree at Católica Porto Business School, has been recognised by Banco de Portugal with the Professor Jacinto Nunes Award. This prestigious award is given annually to the student with the best final average in the Economics undergratuate degree programme at selected educational establishments.
The ceremony happened this Monday, 20 January, at the Nave do Museu do Dinheiro, and was attended by the Governor of the Banco de Portugal, Mário Centeno, the Deputy Governors of the Banco de Portugal, Clara Raposo and Luís Máximo dos Santos, Francisca Guedes de Oliveira, Professor at Católica Porto Business School and member of the Board at Banco de Portugal and the Board members Helena Adegas and Rui Pinto.
For Ivan Shah, the distinction goes beyond an academic achievement: "This award symbolises much more than personal recognition. It is proof of the commitment, dedication and hard work that have marked my academic career. It also reflects the challenges overcome and the invaluable support of my teachers, colleagues and, above all, my family, especially my father. I hope this achievement inspires future students to believe that, with determination, success is within reach."
The Professor Jacinto Nunes Prize is awarded annually by Banco de Portugal with the aim of recognising the merit of the best undergraduate economics students, from higher education establishments where the average of the last candidate admitted was equal to or higher than 140 points. Created in 1987 as the "Prémio Banco de Portugal" and renamed in 2016 in honour of Professor Manuel Jacinto Nunes, the award pays tribute to one of the most illustrious figures of the Portuguese economy in the 20th century.
