As part of the Executive Course Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer, Católica Porto Business School is organising a webinar entitled "Ethical Risks in Financial Services Companies".

The speakers will be two former students of the course: Ana Maria Fernandes, an independent non-executive member of the Board of Directors of CTT, and Susana Gomez Smith, a member of the General and Supervisory Board of novobanco. Helena Gonçalves, co-director of the course and coordinator of the Ethics Forum at Católica Porto Business School, will host the webinar.

This webinar will explore some key findings from the final project, “Ethical Risks in Financial Services: Identification and Mitigation”. The analysis of both national and international cases will identify the causes of ethical risks and their consequences for organisations while also examining lessons learned.

This event, which is open to the general public, is part of the launch of the third edition of the Executive Course Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer.

Ana Maria Fernandes

Ana Maria Fernandes is an independent non-executive member of the Board of Directors of CTT. Since 2017, she has served on the Boards of Directors of Caixa Geral de Depósitos (until December 2021), Banco Comercial e de Investimento (April 2023), and currently Banco CTT. Between 2006 and 2016, she held positions in the energy sector at EDP (headquarters), EDP Renováveis, and EDP Brasil, serving as a Board Member, CEO of EDP Renováveis and EDP Brasil, and later as President of EDP Brasil. Previously, she worked in the oil and gas sector at Galp Energia from 2000 to 2005 and in the natural gas sector at Gás de Portugal from 1998 to 2000. Earlier in her career, she worked in investment banking until 1998.

­Susana Gomez Smith

Susana Gomez Smith is an independent non-executive director with experience in Audit, Risk, Remuneration, and Compliance Committees of regulated financial services companies in the UK, Switzerland, and the EU, as well as in FinTech. She is a Board Member of both listed and unlisted corporate groups and subsidiaries. With 25 years of international experience in senior roles in banking and capital markets, she has worked for global and complex organisations, including Citigroup and Santander.
