Católica Porto Business School's Service Management Lab (S.Lab) is delighted to promote a practitioner seminar led by Cristina Trocin, Assistant Professor in Information Systems at Católica Porto Business School. Dedicated to "The Role of AI in Shaping the Future of Health Systems", this seminar is designed for doctors, managers in healthcare organizations and experts involved in digital health initiatives in Portugal.

The session will also have a presentation by Gabriel Hanssen Kiss, senior engineer at the Operating Room of the Future - St. Olav's University Hospital (Norway).

With this seminar, the Service Management Lab pretends to contribute to a broader discussion in this field of study, by disseminate and share the latest developments in AI applications within health systems by focusing on the practical challenges and opportunities; share practical experiences from other international health settings; and cultivate new research collaborations between the Service Management Lab and health organizations, hospitals, research centers and start-ups across Portugal drawing on practice-oriented approaches.

Cristina Trocin
Cristina Trocin, PhD is Assistant Professor in Information Systems at Católica Porto Business School. Since her post-doc at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Norway, Cristina conducts research in the field Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare. She is exploring the development of AI pipelines to support doctors with the analysis and interpretation of medical images in the Operating Room of the Future in Trondheim. Previously, she gained valuable knowledge and practical implications of Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementation in Italian health organizations during her PhD program from Ca' Foscari University of Venice. Cristina spent her PhD visiting semester at American University - Kogod Business School in the USA, where she strengthened her research skills and practical insights for improving health services.

 

Gabriel Hanssen Kiss

 

Gabriel Hanssen Kiss
Gabriel Hanssen Kiss, PhD is a senior engineer at the Operating Room of the Future, St Olavs hospital. He has a computer science engineer diploma from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, a PhD in engineering from K.U. Leuven, Belgium, main topic was visualization and automated polyp detection in virtual colonoscopy. His main area of expertise is related to medical image processing and visualization, extended reality and ultrasound technology. Special interests include volumetric data visualization, image registration and fusion as well as XR for medical and non-medical applications.
