Methods and Methodologies (MM)
Students of this course will acquire in-depth knowledge about qualitative research approaches and strategies, namely about qualitative data collection and analysis techniques and about the combination of these strategies with other research strategies. At the end of the curricular unit, students should be able to:
1. Understand the difference between inductive, deductive and abductive approaches in management research.
2. Critically evaluate the various qualitative data collection and analysis techniques.
3. Understand the usefulness of natural language processing (NLP) tools in analysing qualitative data.
4. Select and apply qualitative research strategies depending on the questions to be investigated in the area of management.
5. Communicate effectively.
This unit develops skills in collecting, analysing, interpreting, synthesising and visualising information, considering the strengths and limitations of different qualitative research strategies, thinking critically and communicating orally and in writing to diverse audiences.
