The eighth edition of the AEP Golf Business Cup once again brought together dozens of business leaders and managers around a competition that, more than a golf tournament, has established itself as a key meeting point for the Portuguese business community. Organised by the AEP (Associação Empresarial de Portugal/ Portuguese Business Association), together with the AEP Foundation, the initiative once again counted on the support of Católica Porto Business School, which partnered with the event for the second consecutive year, reinforcing the link between sport and networking.
Over its eight editions, the AEP Golf Business Cup has already involved more than 300 players, representing 165 companies. The most recent edition featured several regional stages: the first took place in May at Amarante Golf Course, followed by tournaments in Viseu (Montebelo Golf), Espinho (Oporto Golf Club) and Póvoa de Varzim (Estela Golf Club).
“The Portuguese Business Association is a long-standing partner of ours and it was therefore with great pleasure that we once again sponsored a competition that has become part of the national golf landscape,” said the Dean of Católica Porto Business School, João Pinto. He also emphasised that “it makes complete sense for Católica Porto Business School to be present at an event of this nature, demonstrating that we are a business school that stands alongside Portuguese companies and takes their needs into account, whether in terms of education or applied research”.
As part of the partnership, Católica Porto Business School offered five vouchers for enrolment in executive education programmes in the area of leadership, reinforcing its commitment to the development of business leaders and advanced management skills.
The most recent edition also featured a special moment with the Atlantic Golf Business Cup, an Iberian tournament held in Mondariz, Galicia, which was attended by the executive director of Executive Education at Católica Porto Business School, Carlos Vieira. The Atlantic Golf Business Cup is a prestigious golf tournament organised in partnership between the Portuguese Business Association and the Galician Business Confederation, strengthening the cross-border dimension and the spirit of cooperation between business communities on both sides of the border.
Remaining true to the social commitment that also characterises this initiative, part of the revenue generated from this year’s tournament registrations was allocated to supporting AAJUDE – the Association for the Support of Youth with Disabilities, demonstrating that sport can indeed generate a positive impact on society.
For the executive director of Executive Education at Católica Porto Business School, Carlos Vieira, “the AEP Golf Business Cup is a unique opportunity to strengthen our connection with the business community in a more informal setting, while remaining focused on building lasting and productive relationships”.
