Universidade Católica Portuguesa and the Ilídio Pinho Foundation forge closer relations

The Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) in Porto recently received a visit from Ilídio Pinho, businessman, president of the Ilídio Pinho Foundation and patron of UCP. During his visit, Ilídio Pinho was welcomed by Isabel Braga da Cruz, pro-rector of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, and João Pinto, dean of Católica Porto Business School, for a moment of sharing and reflection on the intersection between education, innovation and entrepreneurship.

The meeting allowed for an in-depth dialogue on the challenges and opportunities in higher education and the role of universities in promoting economic and social development. With a remarkable track record in supporting education and research, Ilídio Pinho emphasised the importance of the link between academia and the business community, encouraging the training of professionals capable of facing future challenges. Ilídio Pinho was recently honoured by the Universidade Católica Portuguesa with the title of Doctor Honoris Causa, in recognition of his significant contribution to education and innovation in Portugal.

Isabel Braga da Cruz emphasised the University's commitment to strengthening its commitment to academic excellence and innovation, highlighting the role of strategic partnerships with the business sector. "Ilídio Pinho's visit is a moment of great significance for the University, as it reinforces the importance of collaboration between academia and the business sector in building a more innovative and sustainable future", she said.

For his part, João Pinto emphasised the importance of Católica Porto Business School in training business leaders and promoting a culture of sustainable entrepreneurship. COLEP, one of the companies that is part of Católica Porto Business School's Corporate Club, has been a successful example of this link between the university and the business world.

Ilídio Pinho's visit reinforces the mission of Universidade Católica Portuguesa and Católica Porto Business School to create bridges between academic knowledge and the business world, consolidating its role as a benchmark in higher education in Portugal.
