Águas do Norte is the most recent member of INSURE.hub - Innovation in Sustainability and Regeneration Hub, joining more than 55 entities that are part of this initiative of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto - through its colleges Católica Porto Business School and Escola Degree in Biotechnology - and Planetiers New Generation.
The signing of the memorandum of understanding establishes that the institutions involved are committed to working together on Sustainability and Regeneration issues.
Isabel Braga da Cruz, president of Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto, states that INSURE.hub, together with its members and partners, “has a very important role, capable of promoting transformation.” The partnership with Águas do Norte “reinforces the ambition and mission in building a more sustainable world.”
José Machado do Vale, president of Águas do Norte, states that “joining INSURE.hub strengthens Águas do Norte's commitment to promoting the Circular Economy and sustainable development objectives, reinforcing the commitment to applied innovation with the University Catholic.”
Launched in 2021, INSURE.hub's strategy is to monitor innovation in academia and implement projects in the areas of sustainability and regeneration and is already fulfilling its main objective: creating a vibrant, national and international environment of transdisciplinary knowledge with a circular scope , sustainable and regenerative. An initiative in line with the European Green Deal and respective targets until 2030.
Águas do Norte's mission is to provide a public water supply and sanitation service in an efficient, sustainable and innovative way, continually contributing to improving the quality of life and development of the region.
There are more than 55 entities that have joined this initiative that results from the mobilization of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, in Porto, and Planetiers New Generation, together with national and international organizations that reveal themselves as thought leaders and agents of transformation for the Sustainability and Regeneration.
The memorandum was signed on September 5th, in the presence of Isabel Braga da Cruz (president of Universidade Católica Portuguesa, in Porto), João Pinto (vice-president of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, in Porto and co-leader of INSURE.hub), and José Machado do Vale (president of the Board of Directors of Águas do Norte) and Cristiana Barbosa (executive member of the Board of Directors of Águas do Norte).
