Last week, between 8 and 12 July, Católica Porto Business School welcomed high school students for the Teen Academy Young Enterprise. About 90 students took part in the programme, which was a genuine academic experience. During this intensive programme, the young participants developed a business plan focused on local accommodation with the support and guidance of the Católica Porto Business School faculty.
The first step in this experience brought participants together in a team-building activity with the support of the Career Development Office (CDO) of Católica Porto Business School, including team formation. Subsequently, the development of business plans began, which continued throughout the week. The journey started with an introductory session on "Business Design", followed by the plan's development with a focus on "Operations Management." The students covered various disciplines that provided a holistic view of management, including strategy and consumers, economic outlook, recruitment and selection, financing, and marketing strategies.
In addition to the practical sessions, the students had the opportunity to visit the Super Bock Beer House, where they learned about the company's history and brand and beer production methods. Alongside this visit, Católica Solidária (CASO), the volunteering unit of Católica Porto, also conducted an activity. Through testimonies and games, CASO demonstrated the importance of volunteering and solidarity as part of the integral formation of a person in the academic community at Católica in Porto.
In another session, students discussed with our alumni about possible career paths after studying at Católica Porto Business School, whether in a company or through entrepreneurship. The speakers were Gonçalo Marques, co-founder of Shoevenir, Inês Santoalha Carneiro, founder of Aida Home Living, and Francisco Martins, Performance and Data Analyst at Super Bock.
On Friday, the last day of Teen Academy Young Enterprise, the students prepared and simulated their final presentations with suggestions for improvement from the Career Development Office. Afterwards, they made their final presentations to the jury of Católica Porto Business School faculty members.
The week culminated in a diploma award ceremony, where the students' parents could participate and celebrate a week full of adventure, learning, and fun.
