We live in a world of polycrises, from climate change and polarisation to biodiversity loss and inequality. Over the past thirty years, many companies have responded with social responsibility, sustainability and ESG (environment, social and governance) strategies. However, many of the problems these approaches mean to solve have been getting worse. If we want a different outcome, we need a different approach. That approach is variously called thriving, regeneration and net positive.
While Thriving builds on the previous approaches, it is different in several fundamental ways:
- it focuses on changing the global system rather than just the company.
- it aims for net positive outcomes, meaning that the ambition is not simply to “do less harm” (i.e. minimise harmful impacts) but to “be inherently good” (i.e. ensure nature, society and the economy are flourishing).
- it emphasises integrating the thriving approach into every aspect of the business.
During this immersive week at Católica Porto Business School, you will understand the global challenges shaping the business landscape, develop skills in systems thinking, learn about integrated value management, and reflect on the characteristics of regenerative leadership. In effect, this will entail working through the 36 elements of the Thriving Framework – developed by Prof. Wayne Visser and outlined in his international bestselling book – and applying these to the real business world.
Participants will gain practical knowledge about integrating transformation into their business strategy through engaging lectures, real-world case studies, and hands-on workshops. Visiting innovative companies will provide first-hand exposure to leading-edge practices and transformative ideas. By the end of the programme, you will be equipped to turn disruption into opportunity, lead with purpose, and drive meaningful change in your organisation.
Discover how to master the art of transformation and become the leader the future demands with Católica Porto Business School.
