Sustainable transition is a complex process that encompasses a variety of technical, social, and economic factors. A thorough understanding of this transition requires recognising the interplay of multi-dimensional and multi-actor dynamics. This talk will explore the approaches to sustainable transitions across three sectors: bioplastics, waste-to-energy, and geothermal energy. The findings highlight that the success of these transitions is largely shaped by socio-technical challenges, which need to be carefully managed. Key challenges include institutional frameworks, technological infrastructure, business models, supply chains, and societal constraints.
