"The head of Israel's military secret services resigned. Reason: he was held responsible, and will have felt responsible, for not having prevented the Hamas attack on 7th October. (...) The error, which is not unprecedented in the history of conflicts between Israel and its neighbours, resulted from excessive self-confidence and pride. Associated with this excess was a notable deficit: that of curiosity. The same deficit led some leaders during the pandemic crisis to commit nonsense – with dramatic consequences for citizens. Between presumptuous knowledge and the desire to learn, these leaders chose the first."
