The Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) welcomed students of more than 40 nationalities from all four UCP campi (Lisbon, Porto, Braga and Viseu) for the 9th edition of the International Student Meeting, which took place on 20 October, in its Braga Campus.
The day began at the Bom Jesus de Braga Sanctuary, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the city's most attractive tourist attractions.
In the afternoon, the students were invited to take part in a conference on the Sustainable Development Goals, which included Isabel Vasconcelos, Vice-Rector of UCP, João Duque, Pro-Rector of UCP and Ricardo Rio, Mayor of Braga, as speakers.
This international meeting gave the students the opportunity to visit the city's most emblematic sites, namely the Palácio do Raio, the Church of Santa Cruz, the Bimillennial Cathedral, the Arco da Porta Nova, the Praça do Município and the City Market. During the guided tour, in addition to the historical contextualisation of the buildings, a connection was made with the 6 SDGs mentioned in the lecture.
International mobility is one of the axes of the University's internationalisation strategy, with students from over 108 nationalities, which is why this event is designed to integrate UCP's new international students and promote interaction between the various campus.
