International Degree in Management begins second immersion period, this time in Porto

Wednesday, July 3, 2024 - 12:08

Starting Monday, Católica Porto Business School will host the second immersion period of the International Degree in Management, which spans three Portuguese-speaking countries bordering the ocean that gives it its name.

According to Rui Lourenço, the scientific director of the programme and lecturer at Católica Porto Business School, “This first edition of the Atlantic Programme has been a success. We have brought together an international class of 22 executives from Angola, Brazil, and Portugal, characterised by a strong exchange of experiences and networking.”

Successor to the Atlantic MBA, the International Degree in Management is an international postgraduate course in Management, offering a triple degree from the three business schools of the Catholic Universities of Angola, Brazil (Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro), and Portugal (Católica Porto Business School).

In this second period, held at Católica Porto Business School, students will engage in activities that foster a solid understanding of the local economic, social, and cultural realities. The ten-day immersion includes visits to prominent companies such as CEiiA (Engineering and Product Development Centre), MDS Portugal, Rangel Logistics Solutions, BBDouro, and Super Bock.

Alongside interactions with the Portuguese business environment, the two weeks will feature seminars on various topics, all connected by a common theme: the Atlantic Ocean. This will include exploring themes such as Atlantic logistics, the evolution of transatlantic markets, and innovation and competitiveness.

Cosme Almeida, the executive director of the International Degree in Management and Director of International Programmes at Católica Porto Business School, emphasises that “this immersion period fulfils the purpose of integrating participants into national and European management practices and realities through structured knowledge sharing from both academia and the field.”

In addition to the theoretical programme, various ‘team learning’ activities are planned, both on land, organised by the Career Development Office of Católica Porto Business School, and at sea, on sailing boats, in collaboration with one of the new partners of the Católica Porto Business School Corporate Club, BBDouro.
