Católica Porto Business School participated in the "Economics for All" competition, organised by the Banco de Portugal, which aimed to generate ideas to encourage young people to understand basic economic concepts. Banco de Portugal received 25 creative projects, from which it selected five as finalists, one of them being from Católica Porto Business School.
The project, titled "Finance in Action," is a digital game developed to teach young people how to manage their personal finances through real-life simulations. The team responsible includes Susana Costa e Silva, a professor at Católica Porto Business School and director of the Master in Management, and alumni Eduardo Nunes, CEO & Lead Game Designer at Kendir Studios, and Diogo Lorga, M&A Senior Analyst at KPMG.
“The game uses avatars and involves decision-making with different consequences, where the user learns basic concepts of investment, saving, and consumption. This is a fun way to increase the proficiency and financial literacy of our young people, targeting players aged between 12 and 18," explains Susana Costa e Silva.
Although the project did not win the Banco of Portugal's competition, it demonstrates Católica Porto Business School's commitment to society by addressing the lack of knowledge among young people in areas such as investment, saving, and consumption through a playful and engaging approach.
This participation also highlights the know-how our students acquire by attending the programmes at Católica Porto Business School, equipping them to engage in innovative projects.
