Católica Porto Business School recruits international faculty members to enhance research and multicultural environment

Católica Porto Business School (CPBS) is proud to announce the recruitment of four faculty members who joined the institution for the 2023-24 academic year. The international call for applicants garnered immense interest, with 180 applications representing 46 nationalities. 

The new faculty members possess outstanding track records in research and teaching within their respective fields of specialisation, encompassing Accounting, Information Systems, Organizational Behavior, and Strategy. Their presence will significantly elevate CPBS's research capabilities in these subject areas while contributing to its diverse program portfolio and ensuring that students benefit from a wide range of perspectives and a globalised outlook throughout their studies.

More information about the new four faculty members:

1. Andrea Thorpe, Associate Professor
Andrea holds a PhD in Management and an MBA from Aston Business School. She transitioned from industry to academia in 2014 and has been a prolific researcher in various domains. Her current research explores the intersection between the natural world and organisations, focusing on circular economy, virgin natural resources, and inter-organizational collaboration. Andrea's work has been published in reputable journals such as Organizational Research Methods, Journal of Business Ethics, and Ecological Economics.

2. Aviner Augusto Silva Manoel, Assistant Professor
Aviner has earned a Ph.D. in Controllership and Accounting from the University of São Paulo (USP). His research interests span a wide range of topics, including cash holdings, corporate governance, IFRS adoption, audit quality, and financial accounting. He brings a strong background in accounting and finance, particularly in the context of private companies and multinational corporations.

3. Cristina Trocin, Assistant Professor
Cristina Trocin is an early career scholar with international collaborations and research interests at the intersection of technology, organisations, and digital innovation. She completed her post-doc at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and holds a Ph.D. in Management focusing on Information Systems in healthcare. Cristina has presented her work at leading conferences and published in prestigious journals. Her research areas include digital healthcare, AI, HRM, and digital innovation.

4. Jon Gruda, Associate Professor
Jon Gruda joins us from the National University of Ireland Maynooth, where he served as an Assistant Professor in Organizational Behavior. With a multidisciplinary background in psychology, neuroscience, and business, Jon explores the complex interplay between leadership and personality. His research, utilising innovative methodologies and technologies like machine learning and AI, has been featured in prominent academic and practitioner-oriented journals, including Personality and Individual Differences and Harvard Business Review.
