Católica Porto Business School is taking a new and decisive step in its path of scientific affirmation with the announcement of its first PhD programme, which will start in the 2026/27 academic year.

This new programme consolidates the School’s trajectory of research excellence, developed both in the academic and applied fields, always with a direct impact on organisations and society. Through the Research Centre in Management and Economics (CEGE) and five specialised knowledge centres – in the areas of leadership, innovation, sustainability, ethics and regeneration – Católica Porto Business School stands out for its ability to produce rigorous, relevant and internationally recognised knowledge.

Designed as a three-year programme, doctoral students will be able to deepen their research area through specialised training, with the possibility of international opportunities. Taught in English, the PhD aims to prepare outstanding researchers in management, capable of bridging the academic world with business practice. As highlighted by Conceição Andrade e Silva, Associate Dean for Research, Innovation and Sustainability, “our doctoral students will be prepared to pursue careers in research and university teaching, but also to take on strategic and management roles in companies and institutions, in a privileged position to move between both worlds.”

According to João Pinto, Dean of Católica Porto Business School, this launch clearly reflects the School’s mission: “contributing to the advancement of knowledge in economics and management through impactful innovation, strong ties to practice and a global mindset is integral to our strategic vision – and this PhD is an essential part of that path.”

Católica Porto Business School is among the select 1% of business schools worldwide holding the prestigious “triple crown” accreditation (AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS) and is listed in the Financial Times European Business Schools Ranking, providing the new programme with an internationally recognised framework of quality.

With a highly recognised research faculty and an environment conducive to the development of interdisciplinary projects, the PhD in Management prepares its students to think critically, conduct rigorous research and generate knowledge relevant to a global, ethical and sustainable society.

Further details on the programme will be announced shortly.
