Católica Porto Business School has joined the "Negócios: Sustainability 20|30" initiative and the Prémio Nacional de Sustentabilidade (National Sustainability Award), from Jornal de Negócios, consolidating its commitment to promoting sustainable practices in companies. Launched for the first time in 2020, this initiative, now in its fifth edition, stands out as the largest cycle of conferences and editorial content dedicated to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) issues in Portugal. It culminates in the "Prémio Nacional de Sustentabilidade" - National Sustainability Award, recognising companies leading sustainable transformation.
The fifth edition of the initiative began on 25 September with the Strategic Council Dinner, which brought together 60 Chief Executive Officers (CEO) and project partners. João Pinto, dean of Católica Porto Business School, represented the School. This collaboration reflects the alignment with one of Católica Porto Business School's strategic pillars: the promotion of sustainability, encouraging companies to adopt exemplary practices in areas such as decarbonisation, circular economy, and sustainable finance.
As part of this partnership, Católica Porto Business School will host one of three national conferences, the only one to be held in Porto on 29th January 2025. The conference will focus on the "S" theme of ESG, Social. The Environment and Governance conferences are scheduled for November 2024 and 2025 in a month to be defined, respectively, in Lisbon.
The Minister for the Economy, Pedro Reis, was present at the Strategic Council Dinner and highlighted the "pioneering" nature of this initiative, underlining its "public merit for its fundamental role in democratising the concepts of sustainability and valuing the participating companies".
João Pinto reinforced the importance of this alliance, saying that "our School's connection to an initiative that has been widely recognised since 2020 by various entities, including the Presidency of the Republic, is a significant step towards sharing the know-how that Católica Porto Business School has in the areas of sustainability and regeneration, especially in connection with the business sector."
