Católica Porto Business School debated and analysed, on November 29th, the State Budget Law leading measures for 2023. The conference, held in partnership with PwC, took place face-to-face at the Ilídio Pinho Auditorium of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Porto.
After the welcome by Rui Soucasaux Sousa, Dean of the Católica Porto Business School, the Secretary of State for Tax Affairs, António Mendonça Mendes, presented the principal measures and changes, through a video, culminating in the transversal analysis of the State Budget Law for 2023.
Divided into two panels - one macro and one technical - this conference brought together specialists to discuss the primary measures approved by the Portuguese Parliament and their respective impacts from a macroeconomic and fiscal point of view.
Thus, the moderation of the macro panel was made by Maria Antónia Torres, partner of PwC, and counted with the presence of Ana Carvalho (CEO of Banco Português de Fomento), Ana Salomé Martins (Executive Board Member at Symington Family Estate), and Pedro Norton (CEO of Finerge).
In turn, the technical panel, moderated by Luísa Anacoreta Correia (Católica Porto Business School professor), discussed the various taxes: "IRC, tax benefits and assets" by Cristina Pinto (professor at Católica Porto Business School); "VAT and IEC" by Hugo Salgueirinho Maia (partner at PwC); "IRS and Social Security" by Ana Carvalho Reis (senior manager at PwC).
Every year, Católica Porto Business School and PwC organise a conference on the State Budget Law proposal to debate the significant changes and possible impacts. After two years in an online format, the conference returned to the usual model, with a full house.
