Under the collaboration agreement signed between Católica Porto Business School and CEiiA, an engineering and product development centre that designs, develops and produces new technologies in the areas of mobility, aeronautics and space from Portugal. The partnership is already in place, and students on the Master's in Management programme, specialising in International Management, were the first to benefit from this connection.
As part of the International Management Consultancy course, students visited CEiiA's headquarters and were given a real challenge to carry out as part of the course: to help prepare the internationalisation of LUS-222, the first aircraft to be developed, produced and marketed in Portugal.
"The aim of this agreement is to bring students closer to the reality of business, providing them with a practical and challenging internationalisation experience", explains Susana Costa e Silva, course coordinator and director of the master's programme.
The first visit took place in February at the Matosinhos facilities, and a second visit was made in April at the Ponte de Sor Municipal Aerodrome, where students were able to discuss the project with engineers and representatives of the Portuguese aeronautical cluster.
"It was an important moment of contact with the development team, engineers and representatives of the national industry", emphasises Frederico Aguiar-Branco, Programme Manager at CEiiA. “The integration of new generations into innovation processes is part of CEiiA's culture and something we actively promote", he explains.
The students also visited the Sevenair Academy pilot academy, the AEROMEC aeronautical maintenance workshop and the TEKEVER drone factory – recently distinguished as a unicorn in Portugal.
The mission of the International Consulting teams? To define a go-to-market strategy for seven different geographies in a project that brings the classroom closer to the reality of the job market. The different teams presented their project last week at Católica Porto Business School.
