Alumna of the Bachelor's in Business Administration and Management (1995), Carmo Themudo is currently Head of UDIP - Unidade para o Desenvolvimento Integral da Pessoa (Unit for the Integral Development of the Person) at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto. As part of the Católica Porto Business School alumni feature, we wanted to get to know Carmo a little better.
Most exciting professional challenge: Solving an issue involving a container of clothes held up at a port in Greece. It was a donation I organised, with the involvement of many people at UCP, intended for a refugee camp. There was a problem with the receiving entity, and each day the container stayed at the port increased the costs. It was an intense few days filled with phone calls, until someone from the local City Council helped resolve the issue.
How did Católica Porto Business School support your professional journey? It broadened my horizons and helped me develop many transversal skills in addition to technical ones, such as time management, critical thinking, teamwork, tolerance, communication, multitasking… and I found friends for life!
Favourite book: “Fresh Water for Flowers” by Valérie Perrin – beautifully written, it tells the story of a woman who never stops believing in happiness, despite many hardships.
Remarkable figure at our School: José Fernando Pinto dos Santos, a fantastic professor with an engaging teaching style – interesting, an excellent communicator. His three-hour lectures just flew by.
Personal curiosity: One of the things I enjoy most in life is dancing.
