Joana Cardoso Fontes is an Assistant Professor at Católica Porto School Business and a Visiting Researcher at Lancaster University.

She holds a Ph.D. in Accounting and Finance and an M.Res. in Accounting and Financial Management (with distinction) from Lancaster University, an M.B.A. (with distinction) from Porto Business School and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

Her research interests include capital market effects of financial reporting. Her work has been published in top academic journals such as The Accounting Review, Review of Accounting Studies and Accounting and Business Research and has been presented at international leading conferences (EAA, BAFA). Reviewer for Journal of Business Finance and Accounting and Accounting and Business Research.

She has worked as an auditor for PricewaterhouseCoopers and as a financial controller for Sonaecom.
