Traditional management control systems, primarily linked to the financial aspects of budget planning and control, have been severely criticised in recent years, as they have been unable to contribute sufficiently to the implementation of the strategy.
Strategy execution is now one of the main concerns of managers, with a shift in focus from strategic thinking to the processes, procedures, policies and management tools necessary to guide an organisation's alignment to achieve its strategic objectives.
The international popularity of new integrated frameworks, such as the noteworthy Balanced Scorecard model, led to the opportunity to reposition management control systems as a key element of strategy execution.
Hence, the timeliness and relevance of this Management Control Programme cannot be over-emphasised, particularly given its focus on Strategic Implementation.
