With the start of the new academic year, new students at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto can now request their Student Card – Caixa IU Card, essential for accessing services and benefits both on and off campus. In addition to serving as student identification and providing access to partner discounts, the card may also function as a debit card by opening an account with Caixa Geral de Depósitos.
How to request the card?
In person: Students can request their card at the Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD) stands located in the Central Building Atrium, between 8 and 19 September;
Online: Through the CGD platform, using the digital mobile key. https://caixaonboarding.cgd.pt/
Documents required to request the card: Citizen card or equivalent document with tax identification number, and proof of address (only for non-Portuguese citizens).
How to collect the card?
Student only: collected in person at the Faculty.
With debit function: sent by post by Caixa Geral de Depósitos to the address provided by the student.
What are the benefits of the card?
The Caixa IU Card (with or without the banking function) is the official student identification card of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and provides access to the Library, to the car park (upon purchase of access at the Stationery Shop), and to the University’s printers (upon payment). It also gives access to discounts with partners such as cinemas, museums, and other establishments.
The card remains valid throughout the student’s enrolment period and will be automatically renewed if the student continues at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
