Luís Menezes, Market President of Southern Europe and Emerging Markets - Unilabs Leadership Executive Team (ULX), was the guest of the last MBA Talks. This session was part of the 18th edition of the Executive MBA, and its main theme was Crisis Management, centred on the COVID-19 period.
Luís Menezes started by addressing the tough times that characterised the pandemic's early months and Unilabs' urgency in "providing solutions to society's fears". "We created an innovative solution, the drive-through, which allowed us to do mass testing", he explained, adding that the goal was to deliver a fast result to the ones who had to travel or needed a certificate to work.
He said a multidisciplinary team was always in charge of all the decisions during the pandemic. The "decision was not centred on the CEO but weighted, always considering the reputational, financial and operational impact".
This session also analysed Unilabs' recent growth. Luís Menezes pointed out that innovation is a constant focus, "taking risks, but measuring the risk and the level of failure", and that the company is strongly concerned about investing in its employees' potential.
