Alexandra Pinto Leitão, Católica Porto Business School (CPBS) professor, will be a member of the advisory board of the Public Debt and Treasury Management Agency - IGCP for the 2023/2026 period.
Alexandra Pinto Leitão holds a PhD in Economics and an MSc in Finance. Her research interests are in Environmental and Natural Resources Economics and Macroeconomics. With this new challenge she hopes to " give her "modest contribution to a sustainable management of public debt", which she considers "essential to decrease the economy's vulnerability to economic and financial shocks, particularly in the current context of rising interest rates, and thus contribute to the country's financial stability and protection of the government's reputation among investors," she adds.
IGCP's advisory board is responsible for giving its opinion on the annual plan and report on treasury management, direct public debt, and the State's funding, as well as any revisions that may be necessary.
On May 19th, João Nuno Mendes, the Finance Secretary of State, nominated "four personalities with recognised expertise in economic and financial matters". Together with Alexandra Pinto Leitão, Ricardo Reis, professor at the London School of Economics, António Pontes Correia, a former member of the board of IGCP, and Pedro Brinca, professor at Nova SBE, will also join the IGPC's advisory board.
