Católica Porto Business School launches new training programme “Building Futures” focuses on economics and management topics

The new training programme developed by Católica Porto Business School, in partnership with the “la Caixa” Foundation, Banco BPI and BPI Gestão de Ativos, as part of the Incorpora initiative, starts today, 20 October, at the Serralves Foundation. 

Aimed at people at risk of social exclusion, the programme offers free training designed to broaden horizons and create new opportunities for professional integration. It provides an accessible introduction to the principles of economics and management, as well as key tools for the world of work. 

The programme is led by Conceição Silva, Associate Dean of Católica Porto Business School for Research, Innovation and Sustainability, and João Novais, faculty member, and involves a wide team of professors and experts from the School, the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) and the partner institutions. 

“Católica Porto Business School is, above all, a humanist school with a global mindset, open to all and designed for people, focused on building futures. To do so, we invest in and develop a wide range of educational programmes, from degree courses to executive education and training for other audiences with diverse life experiences and backgrounds”, highlights Conceição Silva. 

Among the trainers from Católica Porto Business School are Ana Lourenço, Filipa Mota, Joana Marques, João Marcelino, João Nuno Gonçalves, Pedro Pinto, Susana Costa e Silva and Vítor Verdelho. From the Faculty of Law – Porto School of UCP, Mónica Duque joins as professor, alongside André David, an alumnus of the School 

Running for two weeks and held in person, the “Building Futures in Economics and Management” programme offers a practical and introductory approach to topics such as economics, management, accounting, taxation, technology, data, personal finance and labour rights. It also includes modules focused on employability, from writing an effective CV to preparing for interviews, and on creating and managing small businesses. 

Through this partnership, Católica Porto Business School, Banco BPI, BPI Gestão de Ativos and the “la Caixa” Foundation reaffirm their joint commitment to using education as a tool for social transformation, promoting a fairer, more inclusive and more human society.
