António Ramalho, the former CEO of Novobanco, joined the Católica Porto Business School (CPBS) team as Industry Fellow in the Banking and Finance Area.

With the invitation to António Ramalho, CPBS assumes the ambition to strengthen its executive programmes in the financial area at a time when the rise of interest rates will bring new and vital challenges to Portuguese companies.

"The invitation to Dr António Ramalho, who also graduated from the Catholic University, intends to complement the state-of-the-art knowledge of our School in the area of Finance, with a strong connection to practice, constituting a skills centre at the service of companies and executives", explained the Dean of CPBS, Rui Soucasaux Sousa.

António Ramalho has 35 years of banking experience, having been financial director of the Champalimaud Group banks in the '90s (Sotto Mayor, Totta e Açores, Crédito Predial and Chemical Finance) and, later, of Santander Group in Portugal, besides being the vice-president of Millennium BCP.

In the last six years, he was CEO of Novobanco, leading the team responsible for its restructuring and recovery. In addition to his experience in banking, António Ramalho was also responsible for managing several public and private companies, especially the presidency of CP-Comboios de Portugal, Unicre and Infraestruturas de Portugal.

"It was an invitation I accepted without hesitation. In regulatory transformation, sharing knowledge of Banking and Bank Finance with companies and entrepreneurs is crucial. And who better than CPBS to accomplish this project?" underlined António Ramalho.

Soon, Católica Porto Business School will announce the set of initiatives to be developed in this area in coordination between António Ramalho and the Associate Dean of CPBS with the responsibility of Executive Training, Gonçalo Faria.

Católica Porto Business School is part of a restricted group of three business schools in Portugal that present the EQUIS and AMBA accreditations. Its programmes are also included in the AACSB accreditation of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
