The Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto honoured 51 teachers who served the University for over 25 years. In the words of Isabel Braga da Cruz, pro-rector of the Porto Regional Center of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, the aim was to “honour those whose knowledge, commitment, passion, ethics and dedication shaped, not only the knowledge transmitted in the classroom, but also the future of many lives of students who attended Católica in Porto.”

The medal ceremony, which took place on January 30th at the Carvalho Guerra Auditorium, celebrated teachers from different Católica faculties in Porto (Faculty of Theology, Porto School of Law, Escola Superior de Biotecnologia, Católica Porto Business School and Escola das Artes) not only for its academic merit but, essentially, for its “vital contribution to the formation of generations of leaders, with critical thinking and future agents of change.”

Isabel Braga da Cruz states, “It is imperative to express our gratitude for the teachers who have taught and inspired all those who have passed through Universidade Católica Portuguesa and the various Porto Regional Center faculties. Each one contributed uniquely to our students’ academic and human development, guiding them on their learning path excellently and enthusiastically!”

The vice-rector also highlights “each class, each orientation, each research project” as “fundamental stones in building the legacy of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and the Porto Regional Center.”

The Universidade Católica Portuguesa established, in the last ceremony to start the academic year, a moment of tribute to career teachers who completed 25 and 40 years of service to the University, a recognition that will now be made annually at the ceremony above.
