Professor João Pinto Unanimously Approved in Habilitation Procedures

Professor João Pinto, Dean of Católica Porto Business School, has been unanimously approved in his Habilitation Procedures, held on Friday, 24 July, at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

Applying in the field of Finance, Professor João Pinto delivered the synthesis lecture entitled "The Cost of Capital in Valuing Companies", which was critically assessed by Professor Miguel Almeida Ferreira, Full Professor at Nova School of Business and Economics, Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

The Habilitation Procedures were conducted before a panel comprising Professor Clara Raposo, Full Professor at ISEG – Lisbon School of Economics & Management, Universidade de Lisboa, and Professor Nuno Martins, Full Professor at Católica Porto Business School, Faculty of Economics and Management, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, who evaluated the candidate's academic and scientific curriculum.

The report on the syllabus, content, and theoretical and practical teaching methods of the «Valuation» course was assessed by Professor Gilberto Loureiro, Full Professor at the Escola de Economia, Gestão e Ciência Política da Universidade do Minho, and Professor Ricardo Gonçalves, Full Professor at Católica Porto Business School.

The Habilitation Procedure is intended to assess a candidate's academic competence and contribution to their field of research, as well as their ability to lead and supervise research projects.

Members of the Católica Porto Business School academic community attended the examinations and, following their conclusion, gathered for a celebratory toast in the School's gardens.
