Applications are now open until 31 July for the 5th edition of the Porto Economics Award, an initiative of Porto City Council that recognises original research on topics relevant to the city's sustainable economic development.

Over the past editions, students from Católica Porto Business School have consistently been among the award winners, reflecting the quality of the research carried out at the School and its close connection to the economic and social challenges facing the region.

In the 2025 edition, the top three prizes were awarded to Católica Porto Business School students. The first prize went to Francisco Sousa Matos, a Master's student in Business Economics, for his dissertation, "Dynamic Analysis of Housing Market Segmentation in the Municipality of Porto". Second and third place were awarded to Isabel Marramaque Ribeiro, from the Master's in Marketing, and Tiago Gesta Pedrosa, from the Master's in Management, specialising in Service Management, respectively.

The School was also represented among the winners in the 2024 edition. Maria Martins, a Master's student in Management, received an award for her dissertation, "Place Branding: The Case of the Porto Brand".

The Porto Economics Award aims to recognise academic research with the potential to contribute to a better understanding of the city's economic challenges and to support the development of policies and strategies that foster sustainable growth.

Eligible students and alumni may submit their applications until 31 July 2026.
