“The excessive production and consumption of fast fashion represents a major threat to the environment,” said Sandra Lima Coelho, from the Ethics, Economy and Society Group at Católica Porto Business School. In this sense, “this conference aimed to present the topic and promote joint reflection that allows us to change behaviours and think about possible solutions to this problem.”

This event, part of the European Sustainable Development Week, showed, for the first time in Porto, the documentary “Segunda Pele”, which portrays the environmental impact of the textile industry.

Based on interviews with social actors in textile production, the documentary addresses the environmental impact of this, the second most polluting industry in the world. It reveals possible alternatives provided by the interviewees. After the screening of “Segunda Pele”, the debate was opened with the audience by the director herself, journalist Tânia Paiva.
