The Palácio da Bolsa hosted another edition of “From the Past to the Future” on 22 May, an initiative by Católica Porto Business School that brings together the School’s alumni for an evening dedicated to reconnecting different generations of graduates.
The event gathered former students from undergraduate degrees, master’s programmes and executive education programmes in an atmosphere marked by the sharing of professional and personal experiences, the strengthening of alumni connections and the celebration of the academic journeys undertaken at the institution. As is tradition, classes celebrating 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years since completing their studies were honoured.
Opening the session, the Dean of the School, João Pinto, highlighted the importance of alumni in the journey and positioning of Católica Porto Business School, underlining the need to maintain an active community closely connected to the School, particularly in a context of constant transformation in the business and social landscape.
The initiative also featured the participation of Ana Carvalho, Executive Board Member at Caixa Geral de Depósitos and alumna of the School, who shared reflections on the challenges and lessons accumulated over three decades of her academic and professional journey. In her address, she spoke about the importance of adaptability throughout one’s career and the impact of academic and professional experiences in shaping leadership paths. “We have every right and every legitimacy to look at reality and challenge it, to think outside the box”, she stated.
Throughout the evening, the role of the alumni community stood out as a network connecting the School with its former students, now working across different sectors in Portugal and abroad. The ceremony sought to underline the importance of these relationships in creating opportunities for collaboration, professional development and institutional closeness.
One of the central moments of the gathering was the tribute to the different generations of alumni present, as a symbolic recognition of former students’ contribution to the history and identity of the institution.
More than a celebratory moment, “From the Past to the Future” once again established itself as a meeting point between different generations of the alumni community, fostering continued engagement with the School and strengthening the Católica Porto Business School alumni network.
