The programme, now in its 5th consecutive year, is aimed at students in situations of humanitarian emergency, with supporting documentation.
Applications are open from 23 March to 7 April.
According to Inês Espada Vieira, Coordinator of the Refugee Students and Researchers Support Initiative, “Supporting refugee students in starting or completing their academic education benefits not only the individual, but also their family, the community and Portuguese society as a whole.”
She adds: “In the fifth year of this initiative, we are even more confident that this opportunity is fundamental for building a new future for each student, not only as a victim of war, but as the protagonist of a full, autonomous, productive and meaningful life. Several refugee students have already completed their studies at Católica. Their stories are inspiring for their peers and for the community, which sees in them examples of resilience and integration.”
This programme is part of the national effort to welcome and integrate refugees, and contributes to the goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
