Arménio Rego received a Best Paper Award from Società Italiana di Management and EURAM (European Academy of Management) for his article "Shedding light on the founder's influence: Development of a scale to measure employees' perceptions of the founder's shadow".

The paper, developed in co-authorship with Liliana Dinis (PhD student at NOVA SBE and Professor of Family Business at Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics) and Pedro Neves (NOVA SBE), was presented at the EURAM Conference at Trinity Business School, Dublin, between June 14th and 16th.

Based on three studies, this research developed an instrument to measure the family business founders' influence on the following generations. It identified four dimensions of this influence: (1) the founder as the father figure who cares for employees; (2) respect and admiration for the founder; (3) the successors' likelihood to follow the founder's footsteps; (4) the founder's impact on suppliers, customers and the community. Given the importance of family businesses for economies, particularly in Portugal, this research is essential to understand these companies' dynamics.

It is another remarkable achievement, showing the academic excellence and impact of the research conducted by the Católica Porto Business School's professor.
