The new Executive Board of Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD) for the 2025-2028 term was recently announced. We are delighted to see Ana Carvalho, an alumna of Católica Porto Business School, among the names selected. She is now assuming her duties as an executive board member on the team of CGD CEO, Paulo Macedo.
With a well-established career in banking, Ana Carvalho began her professional journey at BPI in the corporate banking division. She later went on to hold prominent positions, including CEO of Banco Português de Fomento. Her appointment to the CGD board reflects the recognition of her competence and extensive experience in the sector.
Ana Carvalho earned her degree in Management from Católica Porto Business School in 1996. In 2005, she returned to the School to complete the Executive MBA, further strengthening her career with broader and more strategic training. “After that experience, I felt the need to evolve again, and that’s when I decided to pursue the Executive MBA at Católica Porto Business School, to move beyond pure finance and embrace knowledge in marketing and communication,” she shared in an interview with Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto.
Reflecting on her academic experience, she recalls the innovative way in which the content was delivered: “Even then, the teaching approach was highly innovative and focused on building practical knowledge. I always felt challenged to question realities and to be prepared to work in diverse contexts.”
Her path is a testament to the kind of education offered by Católica Porto Business School: prestigious, humanistic, and deeply connected to the business world.
Her appointment also reflects the mission of Católica Porto Business School: to educate professionals prepared to lead, with academic excellence, a strong ethical awareness, and the ability to drive positive transformation in organisations and society. We are proud to follow the journey of our alumni, confident that they continue to leave their mark on the world around them.
