Portugal is a country of family businesses, a phenomenon that is more prominent in the north and centre of the country. This programme aims to respond to the needs that over the years we have seen in different businesses and families.
It combines academic rigour with a pragmatic perspective. Specific examples are used to outline successful strategies. Knowing that many problems and solutions result from practical experience specialised in this area, this programme provides a unique opportunity to share knowledge with other entrepreneurs. With this in mind, we will have a more significant impact on the life of businesses and people.
Family businesses are the main source of wealth, employment, retention of people and resilience against some of the adversities that businesses face. Families that own their own businesses are extremely proud of them and are dedicated to ensuring their competitiveness, the well-being of their members and the passing on of their legacy, both material and immaterial, to future generations.
Combining the different needs and desires of society’s multiple stakeholder groups - shareholders, managers, employees, family members and other stakeholders - is a task that must accommodate the specifics of each case and the continuous work of all those involved.
This programme brings together the strength of lecturers with knowledge, practical experience and the ability to synthesise and present the essential elements of each topic in the language of the real business world. It is supported by real-world cases, interactivity with participants as well as individual mentoring sessions.
